What was Your First Car?
|
Mine was a 1.6L Ford Escort.
Lovely little thing, never let me down. Took a few ladies out on dates in it and remember feeling like I was a proper adult once I had the independence of being able to drive.
£250 and lasted 4 years, never letting me down!

Austin Morris 1300; 400 quid on an orginal 'G' Reg. My Mum and my girlfriend's Mum paid for it to get me off my motorcycle when I was 19. (Suzuki GT 250 X7)

1.3L Ford Orion MK2.
Sold to me by my Dad for what seemed to be well over the odds in hindsight. Only four gears and a penchant for cutting out at 60mph.
It was fucking GASH. Still, we Kev'd up the radio and out some 6x9s on the parcel shelf and blasted UK garage in the school car park.
Happy days.

A red Mini 850 with a 24 inch steering wheel and a gear stick was so long the gearbox responded minutes after the gear stick was moved!!! A couple of gallons of petrol and it went on like a long, wet weekend.
When the road was wet the car refused to start due to water in the distributor which was located facing the road. Silly design.
If you wedged the 2 front seats with a shoe it was possible to shag in the back. Awkward, but possible.

Mk1 Triumph 2000 TC with overdrive, cost me £350 and was full of leather and wood, lovely old car, a bit like driving around in my Grandad's lounge but also a bit different, not a quick car but smooth to drive.

Mk II Cortina 1600 Super. Fond memories of many away trips. Also less fond memories of having to warm the spark plugs on the cooker before it would start on a cold damp morning. Dont know your born these days!

A 1973 Ford Escort 1300GT. The only car I've ever sold for more than I bought it for. Wish I still had it now.

Before I passed my driving test I had my brother's old Ford Anglia 105E to practice in but it went to the breakers before I could legally drive. My first proper car was a Triumph Herald 1200 (949 YKK)..
